The extension service at Tuskegee operated throughout the Black Belt of Alabama, serving the communities that the segregated extension service at Auburn University did not. Extension service agents worked with the USDA and state of Alabama to conduct agricultural research and disseminate information on agriculture and homemaking throughout the state.
