Dr. Robert R. Moton, second president of Tuskegee Institute, met Booker T. Washington while he was a student at Hampton University. Washington mentored Moton as a student and eventually, the two developed a close friendship and working relationship. When Booker T. Washington passed in 1915, Moton succeeded him as president of the school.
