The Jesup Wagon was Dr. George Washington Carver’s means of conducting extension work throughout rural Alabama. Named after Morris Jesup, a northern banker who funded the project, the Jesup Wagon was the first vehicle used for Tuskegee Institutes Movable School. Carver’s Jesup Wagon, which he used to conduct demonstrations and educate rural farmers was the model for the United States Department of Agriculture’s extension service.
